The Facebook Rights Manager now protects your videos on Instagram

The theft of Facebook videos is a real scourge. Many unscrupulous pages do not hesitate to download videos that do not belong to them to share directly on their page, “as if nothing had happened”. To better protect copyright, Facebook allows creators to “declare” their videos on the Rights Manager . Facebook announces today the extension of this practical tool to all the videos published on Instagram.

Good news for creators

From now on, creators will be able to automatically block sharing videos that belong to them on Instagram, or just be notified when another Instagram account publishes a video that belongs to them. The Rights Manager effectively leaves the choice to the copyright holders, who can:

  • Block stolen videos automatically
  • Monitor stolen videos, then …
  • Require a portion of revenues, or …
  • Block manually stolen videos of their choice.

Hope this new feature will allow Instagram to to remain a creative space, relatively spared by the mass publication of stolen videos.
