Android 8.0 Oreo: how to download and install beta now

Like every new version of the OS, Android 8.0 brings a lot of novelties . This year, Google has decided to focus on safety, speed, power and ease of use. If you want to sign up for the Android O beta to take advantage of these improvements, go to this address .

For now, only Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel C, Pixel and Pixel XL are compatible with this beta. If you have one of these devices, here’s how to download and install the beta version of Android Oreo.

Prerequisites

1. Install ADB and Fastboot tools with our tutorial

2. Enable USB Debugging in Developer Options on Your Device

3. Complete backup of your data

4. Download the OTA update for your device:

Installation

  • Move the ZIP file into the ADB folder Fastboot
  • Connect your smartphone or tablet to your PC and run the following command prompt to verify that it is connected:

adb devices

adb reboot recovery

  • Hold down the phone’s power button and press the Volume + key

  • With the volume keys, select option “Apply Update from ADB” confirm with the Power key

  • Launch a command prompt in the ADB Fastboot folder where you moved the ZIP file you downloaded before

  • Type the following command, replacing “filename” with the name of the downloaded file

adb sideload path / to / filename.zip
