Amazon in front of Apple, Google, Samsung and Facebook
Each year, Brand Finance publishes the ranking of the 500 most valued brands in the world. In 2016, the top 5 consisted of Google, Apple, Amazon, AT & T and Microsoft. This year, Amazon goes to the first place thanks to a 42% increase in its valuation. Google also saw its valuation increase (by 10%), but Apple has done better (+ 37%) and now exceeds the Mountain View firm. Note the good performance of Samsung and Facebook, which take fourth and fifth places in the standings ahead of AT & T and Microsoft.
Technology companies are well represented in the rankings. On their own, they represent 23% of valuations (in front of banks at 14%, telecoms at 11% and distributors at 6%). The most powerful brands according to the BSI index are Disney, VISA, Ferrari, Neutrogena and Facebook. US companies are very well represented in the top 500 (43% of valuations).
